Wedding: Us

Tyler wore a suit from J. Crew on our wedding day. His shirt and, tie, belt, and socks were also from them. He wore a little tie clip that had an E on it :)

My dress was from the 50's and I found it on etsy. I never even went dress shopping, I found it, and knew it was the one. I wore a 50's rabbit fur jacket and flowery hair piece (which at one time must have had a veil but it had been taken off). My shoes I found at Anthropologie, they were the perfect color. My gloves were my mom's she wore on her wedding day. They're from around 1910 ish. I wanted, for a little while, to wear her wedding dress, as it's Edwardian, but it was so delicate, and this dress ended up being perfect, but I'm do glad I got to wear the gloves.

Tyler and I knew we wanted to get all of our photos done before the ceremony so here's our first look:

Raven Black

I told you all I dyed my hair basically black and now you can reaaally see it.

I watched a tutorial about how Marilyn Monroe had her make up done, and I incorporated some of the things in my own make up so I felt very Marilyn with black hair today, ha.

It's hard getting used to how dark it is, but I think I like it. It's for sure a change, and I'm all for changes with my hair.

Do you like to experiment with your hair or do you like to play it safe?

Girls Night

Tonight Ty went out so my lovely sisters came over and we ordered some amazing Indian food, got soaked in the rain (Nashville has been getting it's fair share of rain today) and watched some Smash. Quite the lovely night.

Before I show you a few pics of our evening, I should tell you my hair is basically black now. I tried to dye it a dark brown, and it was far darker then I thought, but I'm planning on rocking the black for a while before I try to go back to a lighter brown.

My lovely sister Sarah, drenched by the rain.

I'm excited about the Indian food...yummm.

My dear sister Hannah getting the food ready!

Our tasty feast!

We all enjoyed it. Nom nom nom.

It's always nice to spend time with my darling sisters. I think we're gonna go grab some desert next Mmmm.

P.S. My blog is going to look a little janky for a bit. Tyler is going to be working on it for a while to make it look extra spiffy.

Kony 2012

I wanted to thank you all for your loving comments on my last blog post.
I came across this video, as I'm sure many of us are, and knew I needed to share. Please take some time out of your day to watch the video, and help a great cause.

Building Up--Not Tearing Down

Today I saw my first (and I'm sure it will not be my last) negative comment on the internet. Someone had pinned a photo of me to pinterest  (in a very sweet way) and someone posted a comment saying that my outfit made me look short and pudgy and was not flattering at all. It happened to be the outfit I had just done with my trousers.

I have news for that person...I am short. I don't believe I'm pudgy, but I do believe I get to wear what I want because I like it. I know all of us girls are probably guilty of (at one time in our lives perhaps) saying Ohh, that girl should not wear that, she looks horrid, etc. But I'm super tired of women hating on women. I'm tired of people judging someone based on what they are wearing and saying they should have worn this or that to look better. I will always be short, and I don't have a huge passion for wearing super tall heels all of the time, that is my choice. If I like an outfit, I'm allowed to wear it, whether someone out there thinks its flattering or not.

Instead of tearing each other down, I wish we ladies would build each other up and encourage each other to follow our interests and be ourselves. If anything this small comment reminded me that I too need to help build my fellow woman up. To encourage my lovely friends and ladies out their in the blogosphere to keep working their style.

Just remember don't let negative comments tear you down ladies. Keep doing what you like and ignore the people who just want to tear you down.

A Good Pair Of Trousers

We had quite the lovely Saturday today. We went to Cheekwood to check out the Wild West exhibit there, and got to catch the Nashville Opera doing some all American selections, which was fantastic. Then we went and saw A Separation with our good friend Caleb who we hadn't seen in a while and then went and ate tasty food. All together a wonderful day.

I'm not sure I've shown you all my favorite pair of trousers! They're from Vivien of Holloway, and I really love them! I'm always especially interested in trying out vintage reproduction trousers and am thinking of trying out Bernie Dexter or Freddie of Pinewood next. Do any of you have a favorite? The things I'm really looking for in a trouser is a nice gap between the waist size and the hip size. Being a lady with a smaller waist but packing some hips I love vintage reproduction trousers that accommodate that. Let me know if you have any favorite brands!
