Once Again

Ok, so I know everybody said they really liked my black hair, but I just didn't feel like it was completely me. So, I went on a journey to lighten it. An emotional, tear filled, journey. After several mis-haps, processing my poor hair what felt like a million times, a hair cut, and a burnt scalp later this is what I look like. Please be kind as I've had a rough journey the last few days, but I must say I like it and will enjoy experimenting with my new 'do.

It looks a little crunchy in these photos because the poor thing has been through a lot and it was still a little wet-ish. Basically most of my hair actually went platinum blond because my natural hair color is so light, but the rest that had dye on it stuck to a orangy yellow. So, I covered it up with some red, which was actually supposed to be darker, but that's ok, and my lovely friend Quincy cut it for me. She is seriously a life saver.

I have a million different deep conditioning products right now and am planing to blast my hair back to healthy as time goes on. If any of you have any remedies you love let me know!

I hope all you dears have had a fantastic weekend. Also, thank you all for your wonderful comments on my last few posts, it really means a lot to me. AND thank you all for getting me to 400 followers! I appreciate all of you so much.

'Tis The Weekend

It's Friday! Now that I work at a desk most of the day, I'm completely excited to be removed from it come Friday. I plan on living it up this weekend! (living it up meaning watching a few shows, eating tasty food, and sleeping in)

Moving On

I've wanted to write this post for a while and was just not sure how I would put it together.  I just want to talk about friendship and life for a minute. When Tyler and I were finishing up college we had some troubles with friends. People not understanding our relationship; us not responding how we should have. After a while I kind of just gave up on having good friends. People I thought were my friends, weren't after all, and I thought all people must be two faced and I shouldn't expect anything from them. I felt like this for a while. I was really hurt and had no interest in trusting anybody but Tyler. I had a few great people who came into my life and were wonderful and I began to hope for something new when we moved to Nashville.

Since we've been here (only about two months and almost a half) it's been really wonderful. I've been thrilled that my blog has helped me connect with people and that Tyler and I are getting involved doing different things. It's always a bit of a slow going when getting into a new town and trying to make a life for yourself, but I feel like we're finally on our way.
Friends come into our lives and sometimes leave just as quickly.  I've really been learning that some people are truly just for a season, even if you thought other wise. Friendships can be hard and I want to learn to cultivate and grow in the ones I have now, not dwell on the ones I once had. It's been incredibly difficult at times. I've really grieved over friendships lost, but I'm learning to look forward and stop looking behind at what once was.

Thanks for letting me talk, sometimes you just need to talk about something to help heal.

What are some things you have been struggling with lately?

Picnic

This past Saturday Ty and I went on a picnic with Quincy and Johhny. It was such beautiful weather here in Nashville, and the perfect day to spend hours outside. We went to Percy Warner Park and got some surprise entertainment while we were there. Right behind us were some reenactments going on. Men and women dressed up as if they were from the Regency era. Then to the other side of the park someone was getting married, I guess it was the perfect day for everyone.

I'm also wearing one of Qunicy's new creations! I'll do an outfit post sometime showing it off properly. You can purchase it here along with other darling outfits. Go and look at them all!

I hope all you lovelies are having a fantastic week!

Easter Time

Happy last bit of Easter everyone! Here's my Easter outfit. I've been wanting flower clips to put in my hair for a while now, and I couldn't find any I liked, so I made some! I made a lot so I'm sure they will be popping up in a lot of outfits especially during the summer time.

Quick Messy Pin Curl Turorial

This is how I've been doing my hair the last couple of days. It works wonderfully because I have thick hair, which takes a while to pin curl, and because it gives a looser curl. Sometimes when I pin curl my hair I don't want those super tight curls.

Start off with damp hair and put a good bit of Motions Foaming Lotion (only like $3 ish dollars at Walmart). I started this set with second day hair and re-wet it, but I usually like to set it right out of the shower.

Section large pieces of hair to pin curl. I start with the bang section and put it up in one curl.

Make sure you brush out each piece before you pin curl, especially if you have naturally curly hair (as I do) so that they will be smooth.

I lay all the pin curls flat on my head for this style. I curl the ones on my left side clock wise and the ones on the right counter clock wise. You don't have to be nice and neat with these, just throw them up there in large chunks.

The finished product. Took my about 5 to 10 minutes and there are about ten pin curls. It's not supposed to look neat and tidy.

Then sleep on them or wear them about during the day. Make sure they are COMPLETELY dry or you'll deal with fallen out curls and they won't stay. Even if you have to wait a few extra hours, it'll be worth it.

Start taking the bobby pins out gently, don't take the bangs down yet. (You all get to see how light my eye brows actually are)

After they're all down. It's a much calmer look from regular smaller pin curls.

Brush it all out. If it looks crazy or not quite right keep brushing it and moving the curl in the direction you want it to go.

After you've gotten a nice shape pin back the right side, or whichever side your bangs are not on with bobby pins.

Now it's time to take the bangs down.

Brush them out in the direction of the curl until they're nice and smooth.

Curl up and secure with a bobby pin or two.

Then hair spray the crap out of it. Smooth down all the frizzy bits.

And there you have it! Nice loose curls. I lightened the second photo quite a bit in hopes that you could see more detail since my hair is so dark.

Let me know if you all have any questions! I may try a video tutorial next time.

Finally Friday

I wore this outfit tonight for a double date night to Burger Up with Quincy and her husband Johnny, it was such a beautiful evening and Ty and I had such a blast with them. Sorry there's not a lot of variety in the photos, Ty went to take them and the camera died after about 10 photos.

I tried a different pin curl thing last night. I did larger kind of messy pin curls and I think it worked really well with my hair. Not only did it take much less time to do, but it also made me hair less huge. Because my hair is already naturally so curly sometimes when I pin curl it it just goes out of control and it's hard to tame.

I'm wanting to do some hair tutorials but I'm not sure if I should do photo or video tutorials. I think I've asked this question in the past, but which kind do you all find most helpful?

I hope all you darling have a wonderful weekend!
