Black and Blonde

So after a bit of an absence, I'm back! Tyler is using this amazing camera (a Cannon 5D Mark II) and last week had recorded a make up tutorial, a hair tutorial, and got shots of an outfit for me. I was so excited to post everything, it all looked so great, and then...it all got deleted. That's right. All. Gone. It turned out the card reader and the memory card were corrupted and formed the perfect storm. So after that I was a little unmotivated to post, but the camera is back, and now I can show you guys some outfit photos!

The weather is all over the place here in Nashville. The last several days it has been well into the 90's and then today I think the high was 69. A little odd, but I'll actually take some cooler weather, it's nice.

This weekend Ty and I will be babysitting my siblings (though none of them need it) at my parents house while they are away on a trip for their 25 Anniversary! Congrats Mom and Dad!

What are your weekend plans?

My Favorite Lipsticks

I thought I'd share with you all some of my favorite lipstick shades. I get asked quite often what lip colors I use, so here ya go.

Clinique's Red Hot is one of my favorites. It doesn't bleed, is matte, and stays on quite long. It's a nice deep red shade.

Sephora's lip stain  01 is amazzzing. It's one of the only stains I've found that will actually make it through an evening of smooching, eating, and drinking, and it stays super bright. This is my go to when I know I won't be able to re-apply my lipstick.

This is my new favorite color for summer. NARS Heat Wave is so festive and bright. I had tried Lady Danger from MAC and I enjoyed it, but it was a little too orange for all my needs, but Heat Wave is perfect. It's more of a coral but infused with enough orange to make me happy.

And of course the classic, what vintage loving gal doesn't love and use MAC's Russian Red? It's a fabulous matte lipstick.

I also use a lot of Maybelline lipsticks. One of my favorites is Burnt Coral #364. I have a Chanel lipstick and Yve Saint Laurent one, but they can bleed a lot even with MAC's prep and prime I use on my lips. So I don't err on the expensive side, I just like what I like.

I also use two lip liners.

MAC's Cherry lip liner for most of my lipsticks with a blue base.

MAC's Redd liner for my more coral and orange shades. I wear this one with NARS Heat Wave.

What are some of your favorite lipsticks?

Birthdays

Yesterday was my brother David's birthday (he turned 21!) so we went out to Sambucas a lovely restaurant here in Nashville in The Gultch with live music and great drinks. It was a wonderful celebration, though I'm not sure how much more I can handle of my siblings growing up. Jesse graduates from Middle School, David turns 21 and in 9 days my sister Sarah turns 19. They all need to just stop it!

I usually don't do very big accessories, I know they can totally make an outfit, but I'm more on the simple side, so this necklace felt like A LOT, but I really ended up liking it with the whole outfit.

Of Trashy Diva and Corsets

I have been lusting over Trashy Diva dresses for a while now. Coveting their super adorable cuts and patterns. This past week my dream was finally realized and I purchased the Day Dress in Pearl Harbor. I love it! I wore it to my brothers 8th grade graduation (Nooo! He's the baby of our family. I'm the oldest of five so I don't want any of my siblings to grow up) I can't decide if the cut or print is my favorite, but I do want like five more dresses in this print.

I had to get ready for the evening graduation in the morning since I had to leave straight from work, and super smart me decided I wanted to wear my corset...all...day....long. I can fit into the dress fine, but I liked the dramatic look the corset lent and so yeah. Well, after about 3 hours of corset wearing I was about to murder myself so I went to the bathroom and took it off and snuck it into my large bag. Lesson learned. I will only wear my corset for short periods of time until I'm more used to it, whew.

A Blue Jumper

This Sunday was going to be a wonderful day of cleaning and relaxing, instead it turned into hell where Ty and I spent 4 hours at AT&T trying to get ourselves a cell phone plan. Yes, 4 hours. Any way, after that fiasco Ty took me to Anthropologie for some retail therapy (best husband ever), and I found this sweet dress in the sale section.

I've been wanting a little jumper and this fit the bill. It's suuuper comfy and perfect for just bumming around. Sorry about my sleepy face in some of these photos, these were taken Monday right before I left for work.

Saturday Night

This Saturday has been wonderful. I made a super yummy breakfast this morning and Ty and I bummed around and watched 30 Rock. We did some productive things like laundry and then headed out to see The Avengers with my family (which is AWESOME so you should all go see it), then Ty took me out to my favorite Indian place. All in all a completely lovely Saturday.

I'm enjoying my hair so much lately. It's long enough to do some neat styling and short enough to not be especially hard to handle. It's also recovering nicely from the horrid shock I gave it by numerous bleachings and dyings.

nudeedudee

So the past few weeks I stumbled upon this amazing etsy shop called Nudeedudee. The lady who runs it, Kim, sells her handmade amazing vintage reproduction clothing tailored to your body. Which, for a girl with a very large hip to waist ratio is just amazing. I decided to buy a pair of her overalls because they were just too darling, and I figured they would be something hard to find out there in the pre-made world that would fit my entire figure. I LOVE them. Not only was Kim a complete joy to converse with about all the little specifics but the overalls are super beautiful.

The only thing I had a problem with was the straps were a little long, but that's always a problem with me because of my slopping shoulders, so I tacked them to wear them for the day and then will have them altered a smidge. EDIT: I just learned they are supposed to cross in the back, I'm a little slow haha. Ok, now for some goofy photos.

That face is one I make often, most of the time I go about my day in a very animated fashion, so I thought you should all get a peek. I'm not sure what I'm doing in the second photo, perhaps an odd dance.

Any who, go check Kim out on etsy if you haven't!
