Recent Finds and Photos

I've been doing more antique shopping of late, which is so wonderful, it's been a while since I had been going regularly. Here are some of my finds and whatnot.

These are some of my fabulous finds from the Nashville flea market. I got some amazing deals. One of the venders gave me about six vintage hats for $10 and I got all these lipsticks for just a $1 each. Yeaaaah.

I also went to a local antique mall with my lovely sister Sarah. I wish we could have bought this beautiful 40's mink! But alas, it was too expensive.

But by far this was my greatest purchase of the last week:

Tyler and I have been on the hunt for a lovely art deco armoire. We were looking at several but this was an amazing deal. And here's a bit of the top in our room:

I hope you all have had a wonderful week!

Thanksgiving Overalls

Happy after Thanksgiving to everyone! I had a wonderful time spent with family eating loads of food, couch napping, and spending quality time together. It was really lovely. Tyler and I are wrapping up Christmas shopping, we're just about done! I've had so much fun planning gifts and wrapping them to stick under our lovely tree. Here's what I wore on turkey day:

These overalls are seriously my favorite. They are so comfy and were perfect for a large Thanksgiving feast.
I colored my hair again for the first time in a while. Just the regular demi hair color that the guy at the salon had been using. It's so funny to see my natural hair color come through at my part and roots so quickly. It's soo much lighter, and I'm really excited for all the bleached blonde to eventually grow out and my natural color to see the light of day again.

I'm planning more tutorials this weekend! I'm hoping to get two filmed, so we'll see how that goes.
How were your Thanksgivings (if you live in the states)?

Work Times

This week has been filled with a lot of holiday excitement for me. I realized Thanksgiving is this week...wow! Yesterday Ty and I went to my parents house and my mom and I started planning Thanksgiving dinner and bought presents for the kids. Ty and I also finished decorating our tree (yes, go ahead and judge me for putting the tree up before Thanksgiving). We already have some gifts under it, so it looks quite festive.

This is an outfit I wore to work this past week. I'm really happy to say that all the kids have gotten used to the way I look/dress that they don't even comment any more when I do something weird or different with my hair. I always used to get giggles from the 4 year old girls who would whisper "Miss Emma, your hair looks so silly". I would always respond "I know, Miss Emma looks silly a lot, doesn't she?" haha. Now they just want to touch my hair and wonder how it looks how it does.

The other day I was out on the playground with my class and one of the little girls ran up to me and said "I'm a bad guy! I'm gonna take all our lipstick and uuuuseee it!" *mimes rubbing her lips with lots of lipstick* not only did it make me laugh a lot, but I thought it was super funny that this little girl knew just what kind of bad guy would really get to me...take all my lipstick? Oh no.

Music Notes

Ok, so, some of you may know I graduated with a degree in Music Education. I love music, adore it, and hope one day to teach it. So...when I saw this dress, as cheesy as it may sound, I knew I had to have it. Presenting the best music teacher dress ever.

I wore it last night to a Nashville blogger get together. Which was wonderful, I met lots of amazing gals and I can't wait to get together with them again soon.

I know I have become addicted to Trashy Diva, this is my third dress of theirs, and I have two more on my Christmas wish list. I've always wanted a dress cut like this, a wonderful 40's shape, and had never found a great repro one until I stumbled upon theirs.
Any way, not only am I excited about this dress, but Thanksgiving and Christmas are so close! Eee, I love the holidays. I'm having the most fun planning gifts and whatnot. What are your favorite things about the holidays?

P.S. thank you for all the lovely comments on my hair tutorial! I have some more in the works involving wet sets.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween lovelies! Sadly, I have no costume to show you. Tyler went out of town today so I'm not doing anything fun. But, I'm loving looking around at everybody else's goings on for this Halloween night (or previous weekend). October is my absolute favorite month and so I have revelled in this weather like nobody's business. I'm a little sad to see it go, but excited for the beginning of November and the Holiday season.

Those of you who have been following awhile will remember this is one of my favorite coats I got last year. Tyler and I are both suckers for coats and I'm so thrilled we finally get to wear them!

Did you do anything exciting to celebrate Halloween?

Recently

Life has sent Ty and I some curve balls these last few weeks. Stressful times and grieving times. Life can often seem to drag on with one sad thing happening after another, but there are so many pleasant wonderful things to be thankful for, and I'm so glad that I have Tyler to walk through all of life's journeys with. Here are some of our snap shots of October.

Tyler and I escaped to Kentucky earlier this month. I lived a lot of my childhood there and it has wonderful memories. I miss the barns smoking tabacco and the feeling of being out in the middle of no where, where only peace can find you. It was so refreshing, we stayed in my grandparents old house.

I also adore Tennessee. When Tyler and I moved here to Nashville we thought we might be moving on sometime soon, but we have fallen so in love with it that I'm not sure we want to move away any time soon.

I love weekends here. I get to sleep in all cuddled up (and it's the best cuddling weather right now!) We always indulge in some of our favorite foods on the weekends. Coffee from Fido and some yummy Indian soup from my favorite place Bombay Palace.

And of course it's always wonderful to dress up and get new goodies.

Sometimes I feel like when you travel through situations that are hard to deal with or that cause you to grieve you can forget all the things in life that are beautiful and that you should be thankful for. So right now I'm thankful for my job and all the children I get to work with that make me smile. I'm thankful for a wonderful family I get to live near and love on. I'm thankful for a tender husband who takes care of me and who supports me on this road of life. I'm thankful for each morning I get to get up and enjoy this beautiful life.
