Who We Are

Who we are has a lot to do with who is around us. Who your family is, what friends you hang out with, and who you are with romantically. Your partner, your better half, that one person. I've always been thought of as an out going person I'm pretty sure, but I've always known I was timid about who I was, afraid to express myself, afraid to say what I wanted and wear what I wanted. Every boyfriend I ever had made me feel like I had to fit into some mold, to stay where I was when we first met, be somewhat un-changing. I never felt comfortable in my skin. Until.

Ok, I know it's a cheesy picture, and he'll probably kill me for putting it up here...but he looks pretty smashing I think.

Since I've been with Tyler I've felt the most like myself. ever. I can dress however I want to. I can say what ever I want to. I know it sounds silly, but he's given me the confidence to dress in a more vintage inspired way. I always felt like I would be judged and people would think I was odd for dressing differently, but I feel really good about being me now that I'm with Tyler.

I think when you find the person that you're supposed to be with, they make you feel more comfortable, more you. I'm really thankful I found that person.

Sometimes I'm mushy. I'm ok with that.

  11. Well, I understand you perfectly. Before I found my wonderful man, Moreno, I always pretended to be another person just to please others. But since I found him he helped me found myself and he really helped me to find the courage to express myself through clothes.
You look stunning by the way, that dress is so beautiful.

  24. Its an incredible feeling to be known and understood.
and to have a man who doesn't think its weird when you wear a dress that's 70 years old.

  30. so sweet and beautiful and oh, so true! i feel exactly the same way about my john. i have definitely come into my own, as they say, since i first met him almost exactly one year ago. (by the way, i've noticed your lovely ring in a good many of these pictures and it reminds me an awful lot of my own wedding ring. is yours an antique, too?)

  31. joannaeking: Aw, that's so wonderful! Actually it's a re-casting of an art deco ring. So the style is antique, but the ring is new :)
