Kony 2012

I wanted to thank you all for your loving comments on my last blog post.
I came across this video, as I'm sure many of us are, and knew I needed to share. Please take some time out of your day to watch the video, and help a great cause.

  1. I do like the video, and I agree with the cause, however please remember that the cause in a of itself is separate from organizations involved in bringing attention to it and to do your research about those organizations before blinding supporting a cause.

  2. @Rueby..., that makes no since to me. It's still supporting a cause. She posted the video, how is that bad? How is she "blinding" (as you misspelled) supporting something?

  3. @Rueby... If you have such a big problem with this campaign, don't support it. You have problems with how Invisible Children handles their money? Well if you haven't heard, there is an expiration date on this project. Awareness is what is needed and military action to stop Kony. Yes there are other injustices in the world, but if we can do something to stop one person then get out of the way, you're just slowing us down.

I agree with Rueby. I don't think she has a problem with the cause (neither do I, I think it's great), rather she's concerned about so many people "bandwagon-ing" on this without knowing the facts and properly educating themselves on the issues (such as how Invisible Children operates and what course of action they're taking). Also there is and has been military action to stop Kony by the US government.

Try reading Rueby's link to see the other side of the issue and what already has been done against Kony. If you still agree with the cause and want to fully support it, then go for it! Awareness is exactly what we need.

  4. I'm so glad you shared this video. I watched it last night and was sitting there in tears by the end of it. I'm not sure but I think Rueby isn't saying that this is a bad cause, but that in general it is important to do some of your own research too. I have been struggling a lot with this lately because I really wanted to do something to support an organisation like this but didn't like all the religious factors behind them. Instead now I have signed up with refugee services here and am going to be helping new families settle in New Zealand. I think that's a great way to help directly, and without having to donate a whole lot of money without knowing where it eventually ends up! Anyway sorry for the rant. Great that you posted this! x
