Slowly Rising

As I slowly rise above my slump, there's several things that have helped me. One of them was getting my hair cut into more of a classic middy. It's not drastic, most of you probably won't notice a difference, but it's really helped with styling. Also, I'm going to be going back in a few weeks to have my hair dyed back close to my natural color. I've been planning to do it one day and with the state of my hair right now it could use a break from dying for a long while.

Another thing that's helped with my slump is going through pinterest and blogs. Mainly a few blogs like Johanna's Her styling really inspired me to be motivated again. As well as Miriam's  Miriam doesn't blog so much any more, but going through her older posts was very inspiring.

I've been experimenting with parting my hair down the middle lately. Trying to vibe the 30's and 40's. I quite like it, but the curls won't exactly do what I want (damaged hair people, it's hard to create a nice soft curl).

  4. Hey lady! I'm glad you're getting your mojo back. You're looking good. Have you thought about wearing a lady tie or large, bright brooch? That would look so cute with this vest.

  6. This is so pretty, Emma! Your outfit is darling. I like your hair parted in the middle. I've tried it with mine, but I have a cowlick, so it just looks hilarious. haha.

  7. Adore this hairstyle on you, it's so timelessly lovely. Totally digging your outfit, too. I've always been a big fan of vests (for both gals and gents), and seeing this outfit reminds me I should dust off the couple I have and give them a spin this summer (thanks, hon!).

  8. I have been browsing your blog and I absolutely adore your style, parting my hair differently really does change how it looks but luckily and I have quite a nice natural curl!

    1. Yes indeed I have. I do deep conditioning every time I wash my hair and then leave in conditioner. It's just been bleached so much that really only growing it out will help at this point. Ohh, good idea! Maybe I'll look into doing something 20's esque.

  19. The doubled collar on that blouse is so delicate, and your hair looks great with the center-part, curls around the face style. I'm on a thirties' tear myself right now, which is a change from my usual Loretta Lynn inspired look! I'm crazy about this Wallis Simpson inspired hair and makeup tutorial right now, check out how they get a set-look with just clips and a curling iron. HOURS. SAVED.

  20. Love the collar on the blouse - so sweet. I wonder what the girls back in the 40's did to keep their hair healthy? I imagine the curling devices were much harsher back then.

    1. I'm not sure maybe I'll have to look that up. Well actually they didn't use much heat as they just pin curled or rag curled their hair so it was very easy on the hair. I usually do that, but sadly, I've fried my hair with bleach and now it won't dry well with those methods.
