Life Lately

Life lately has its ups and downs per usual. Tyler has finished his big project at work (last night he was working until 3:00am) so we will finally have some time for relaxing. The weather here lately in Tennessee is completely beautiful. Fall is our favorite season and Ty is already breaking out his winter coats and I'm thinking of tights and sweaters. There will of course still be warm and probably very hot days ahead, but we can dream.

I'm a little frustrated at the moment with loosing weight. I was doing so well and exercising, then I fell off the band wagon for a few weeks. Ugh. It's the worst when you're on a roll with something and you stop and have to pick it back up again. It feels a bit like you'll never make it, but I'm determined to! Even if I fall behind a bit, I'll make myself catch back up. Do any of you struggle with falling off the band wagon a bit?

Here are some instagram pics that have been life for the past month. You can follow me at emmyrenee if you like.

Not nannying has given me lots of time to cook. This was an amazing pork chop and mushroom sauce I made one night. Yummy.

Whenever we go to the movies we head to the photo booth.

New books and new found time to read them!

My hair is finally feeling healthy again. It's shiny and will hold pin curls easily. Thank goodness!

Pretty outfit planning.

Antiquing is always fun. I love finding old sheet music.

I hope you all are doing well! I'm off to think about planning dinner and then to jog! Yes, that's right, here I come band wagon!

xo,
 Em

  1. Your hair looks fantastic, honey - as (and here's something I don't usually follow that sentence with) do your mushroom bedecked pork chops.

I hope that things start drifting in an especially positive direction for you guys and that your days are filled with tons of reasons to smile.

  3. Your hair looks so cute. I fall off the wagon a lot, I usually hurt myself working out or get sick and have to stop. This is something I do and kind of helps me stay on track, I circle every day I work out on the calendar and then when the month is over I can see all the hard work I have done and it makes me just want to keep accomplishing more and more. Good luck.

  4. Oh Em, I feel your pain re: falling of the wagon. It is really hard - and eating right and exercising is a life-long commitment, so I suppose it is not entirely surprising to slip now and then. I am trying to get back on track right now too - so I will send some motivational thoughts in your direction!

  5. I battled with disordered eating from 14yo-32yo, and every single day was off the wagon in one way or another - bingeing or starving.

You are so gorgeous, you should be sure you have other more important things to focus on then losing a few pounds. A psych once told me "The day you stop dieting and restricting all together is the day you will settle on the perfect weight for you" and it is so true. I didn't believe it or understand it for a long time, but I get it now.

You are perfect how you are, but if you would feel healthier a few pounds lighter, then fill yourself up with good food and move that lovely body.

Each day is a new day and every morning wake up, feel as positive as you can and make good choices about food and exercise. One foot in front of the other, one choice at a time. If you make a bad choice every now and then - oh well, no one is perfect, just make sure the next choice is a sensible one.

A million bucks you will look back at photos of yourself now, when you are 80-years-old and go "My God, I was HOT, why did I not enjoy my beauty back then?"

    1. Thank you so much, my dear. And by no means do I dislike me body (though I have been there and not saying I won't be again at some point) I just enjoy being the healthiest me possible. I really want to stay positive while I loose weight, but sometimes it's disappointing when you loose track of things. I completely know what you mean though, last year I was struggling a lot with body image thinking I needed to loose tons of weight and I look back at photos now and think "What was I thinking, I was crazy!" so I do really want to stay positive. Thanks again for your kind words! xx

  6. Oh, Em, I feel your pain with falling off the wagon. I adore cooking, too, so I really have to make an effort to find things to make & eat that don't have scads of butter or cream in them. I find that when I can eat healthily, though, even if I don't exercise as much I feel much better and am more energetic overall.. it's all a matter of finding the balance that works best for your body.
And your hair is looking GREAT!

    1. Oh yes! I have finally gotten my hubby into liking a bit healthier cooking and I think we're finally on a roll with it, and I totally agree even if you don't work out you still feel great!

  7. Don't be so hard on yourself: you've had a tough few weeks! And I'm sure we don't know that half of it here on the blog. One thing at a time, sweetie, don't feel so guilty x

  8. I have to ask...do you wear vintage undergarments too? I would love to that, would feel so feminine and fun :) You are one legit girl, Emma! Understood about life ups and downs...got a great new job but major cut in pay that's concerning us. Hubs was sick all week and is now out of town for my bday...but I have loads of wonderful friends. It's all balanced out in the end, I guess!

    1. I don't always wear actual vintage undergarments (though I do have some and wear them on occasion) but I usually wear vintage inspired undies. High waisted panties, girdles, merry widows, bullet bras etc. I don't always wear bullet bras though I must confess I haven't found the perfect one, though I have a few. Thanks! Aww, well I will keep you in my thoughts! It's always nice to connect with the blogging community about life's ups and downs. xx
