Colorful and Big Steps

I received this dress for Christmas this year, and it is probably one of my favorites to wear. It's chock full of color, and I think it's just super fun.

In addition to the dress being one of my favorite items, this jacket is as well. I purchased it from The Loved One while I was in California on my honey moon (so it also has lovely emotional memories to go along with it), The color is incredible, and I had never really seen anything like it before.

Lots of good and stressful (in a good way) things are being worked on in the Litton household. We are considering buying a house (super big step!) and are going through all the lovely paper work and loan officers and whatnot trying to see what we'll be doing. I'm very excited and even if we don't end up buying until next year we've started the process and it's going to be great! I'm also starting the process of applying to schools here for music positions (not that any schools know yet what the openings will be, but it's good to get in there early). Please send us your prayers and thoughts. I know that whatever happens in this next season of our life happens for a reason. If I stay at the preschool that's where I'm supposed to be, and if it happens we wait another year for a house we're ok with that. It's always exciting to work toward something though.

I hope you all have had a good start to your week!

xo,
 Em

  10. Beautiful jacket--I can't get enough of that mustard color!

Good luck house hunting! What neighborhoods are you looking in? Keith and I want to sell my condo and upgrade to a house later this year. I like Sylvan Park and Crieve Hall. A tudor or mid century ranch is my cup of tea. :)

  12. Fabulous jacket and dress! I adore saffron yellow so, so much. It was the colour of the moment for me last fall (not that I own much, but I wore all that I had to the hilt!), and I think that instilled a long term greater love for it in my ever since.

How wonderfully exciting that you guys have started the process of buying your first house. I'll definitely be keeping you in my thoughts and sending countless positive wishes your way.

  13. I'm so excited for you guys! Buying a house is huge! The process seems overwhelming, but trust me, you can do it. I stressed myself out for 6 months looking, getting loans, finding insurance, and reading stacks of paperwork. But honestly, it is all very worth it.

And good luck on the teaching front. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you!

  16. First off, Love the outfit!

Secondly, I totally hear you on the house front! We are going through the same process. We've already been approved for an amount, but now we're trying to find just the right house, which is proving to be incredibly difficult!

    Good luck on everything, dear!

  18. that little jacket is the perfect color and shape!
and good luck on the house thing! my biggest advice is don't get too set on a house until your offer really gets accepted. i was TOTALLY invested in the first house we made an offer on and it was devastating when someone snatched it away from us by offering cash. but good thing because i love the house we ended up with so much more!

  22. That jacket is completely amazing! I'm obsessed with 1940's riding jackets, and the color is perfect! And I'm sending good thoughts your way about your music position and house hunt. Change is always so exciting (but stressful, too, of course).

    1. That's so very sweet of you thank you! I use two different kinda mainly. One is Kat Von D's tattoo eye liner (which is incredibly easy to use and looks amazing) and then I use MAC's Fluidline in Black Track, which is great as well but is harder to control as you use a brush with it.
