This week my preschool class had pajama day. I was pretty excited because I knew exactly what I was gonna wear, my dead stock 40's pajamas and put my hair in rollers. My kids have already gotten used to the way I dress and really enjoy it, so I thought they'd get a kick out of seeing Ms. Emma look extra silly.
Don't worry, if you are like me, and freaking out about me getting beautiful 40's pajamas dirty with crafts and preschool stuff, I wore this over it:
Haha, not the best thing to cover my pjs up with but it's a 60's number I didn't care about getting messed up. All the teachers joked about me needing a cigarette and glass of gin and the look would be complete. I probably did look like a crazy house wife a lot of the day. Any time I went to discipline the kids I almost couldn't take myself seriously.

You look fabulous! I just love your pjs! The rollers and headscarf finish the look perfectly :) I bet the kids loved it :)

Oh, that is so cute!
ReplyDeleteI have a pair of 50's pajamas that are so darling, but they are too small in the thighs.
You look smashing, and my goodness, your eyebrows! Amazing. :)

I never knew that I needed a pair of 40's pjs until just now. They're such a vibrant colour and seem to fit you so well. Great find!
ReplyDeleteBet you're the kids favourite. Although maybe save the gin and cigarettes until you get home ;)
Plus, you got to set your hair at the same time! x
I know I really never knew I needed a pair until I saw these! Hehe, yes sometimes I need a good gin and tonic when I get home, I won't lie :)
DeleteYou look amazing!!!! I can imagine discipline was hard to take seriously with the hair rollers! I used to love days like that in school! Everyone looked a bit silly so it didn't matter if you did too!!
ReplyDeleteHow fabulous! I would love to wear that down the street, let alone to school as a dress up! And yes, a ciggie and glass of gin would have been perfect.
ReplyDeletewhat a fun idea! those are basically the most fabulous pajamas i have ever seen :)

come say hello MOCCASIN RUN
That is just so cool. I think being a teacher or a librarian are just perfect occupations for vintage, don't you?
ReplyDeleteI love how you tie the scarves in your hair, I can never get them right!
bxx
Yes, I really think both occupations seem to work really well for dressing vintage! Thank you! It just takes lots of practice for the scarves, you can do it!
DeleteCould you get any more cute?!?! Love the PJs :) What a fun look to go to work in!
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable! As always!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! The kids must have loved it! =) Adore how the curlers match the PJ...
ReplyDeleteAdorable - and I love that your hair rollers match your pjs! :)
ReplyDeleteThose pj's are adorable. My daughter had wacky day yesterday, she wore all her clothes inside out!
ReplyDeleteyou look so lovely, so very vintage! xx
ReplyDeleteYou look fantastic! Those pajamas are adorable, and I particularly like the visible curlers.
ReplyDeleteSO CUTE! I still love the colors on those pajamas, how lucky of a perfect fit they are! If people would wear THESE kind of pajamas to college class and not the Spongebob variety, I don't think I would be nearly as offended by sleepwear-in-public. Also, that housecoat is AWESOME, with or without cigarette and gin glass in hand, haha!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! The shaping of the top reminds me of beauticians uniforms.
ReplyDeleteDo you remember the Magic Schoolbus books? The teacher always had incredible, over-the-top outfits to match the kids' lessons. This reminds me of her, in a good way. Your preschool kids are so lucky to have such a fun teacher!
ReplyDeleteAnd also, you look gorgeous, AS ALWAYS. But that almost goes without saying. I love the asymmetrical closure on the pajamas. That housecoat, though... WOW. :D
Yesss! Ms. Frizzle was the teacher! I adore her, and am super honored to be compared to her :) Thank you!
DeleteThose pajamas are amazing! I said it on Instagram already but I love the whole colour combination with the scarf and even the curlers matching.
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous, the color of your pjs is simply beautiful! ( We all love dead stock beauties like that ;-)
ReplyDeleteToo cute for words! Your pjs are really, really lovely. That soft blue is gorgeous with your colouring. I have a couple of pairs of vintage pajamas, too, and soooo wish I was still in (or taught at a) school so that I could wear them to a jammie day as well.

I am all smiles reading that! So funny and cute, and the 60s overcoat is just adorable with the whole look. I'm sure as a teacher you've actually -had- a moment where you've wanted a gin and a cigarette, too. lol
ReplyDeleteYes! I will not lie there have been days when I have come back from work and poured myself a gin and tonic, and if I smoked I would probably have lit up :)
DeleteSo gorgeous! x
ReplyDeleteI wish you had been my pre school teacher! You always have such fun looks to share. I love these pjs. They remind me of some Chinese ones my Grammy sent me when I was little. Trust I looked way less chic! I also wish I had your hair styling patience. I am lucky if I brush mine most days.
ReplyDeleteLOL too funny :) I bet you all had a blast (although my kids would absolutely figure you were trying to be like someone on our retro TV channel ;))
ReplyDeleteCoolest teacher credits to you!
Oh my, even in pajamas you look picture perfect. I love this! It reminds me of the slumber party scene in Grease. I'm glad there are people like you in the world, I wish I was more like you! :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I looked this good in my PJ's!
ReplyDeleteLove your PJs, you look amazing!
ReplyDeleteMaria xxx
Oh my god these pj's are perfect, I love that the rollers match too xx
