40's Bling

I've been struck with a bout of sickness this month that just didn't seem to want to leave. A couple weeks ago I had a horrid sinus infection and laryngitis. As soon as that left I promptly caught a nasty virus and pink eye...and then laryngitis again. Oh, the joys of working with kids. Any way, all that to say I look a bit peaked in these photos. No eye make up because my eyes are still sensitive from the pink eye and my roots are looking rough, but whatevs, that's life.

I bought this awesome 40's dress over the weekend. It's too big for me, but I belt it really well, and I think it works. I couldn't walk away from the amazing detailing.

I had so many plans this weekend. I was going to paint our bedroom and stay outside as much as possible (the weather here has been oh so lovely), but all of those plans were dashed with more sickness. I also have a really lovely review coming up soon for you all! It will all happen in time, and I plan on enjoying this week to it's fullest, even if my voice does sound like a man's. How has your weekend been?

xo,
 Em

  2. Oh, the first year I worked with kids in a classroom setting I had bronchitis with laryngitis 4 different times. I'm so sorry!! I really hope you feel better soon. I hated it when people would say, "you just need to wash your hands more often." That doesn't help when kiddos are sneezing on you with no warning! Well, I never manage to look half this lovely when I'm feeling unwell-You still look picture perfect :) That dress is just a wonder with it's stunning collar detailing and asymmetrical buttons! Love it.

  3. It's been a HORRIBLE spring for everyone I know getting sick (me included!)...I hope that means we get a completely illness-less, carefree as a lark summer out of the deal! :) Get to feeling better (PS that dress is TOO MUCH, I LOVE IT. The asymmetrical buttons AND the rhinestone detail. A great find!)

Sorry to hear you've been sick - this is why I don't want kids!
Hope you're on the mend and the children refrain from infecting you anymore this spring! x

  7. I'm so sorry to hear that you've had a month of back-to-back medical issues. Why is it that it so often feels like the old expression, "It never rains, but it (always) pours" rings true when talking of health problems? Fear not though, you couldn't possibly look anything short of resplendently beautiful and timelessly sweet if you tried, dear Emma, and these photos are certainly no exception to that statement.

Sending countless feel better wishes your way,
    ♥ Jessica
