Style Inspiration: Stoker

Tyler and I went to see Stoker at the Blecourt a while back, and while it was a bit disturbing and creepy, the style was incredible. I don't do well with scary things, being a huge scaredy cat, but anything that has amazing style I have to see. I really loved Stoker as a movie (plus it was filmed here in Nashville!), despite it disturbing me a lot (haha), the style has left a deep imprint on me. All I want to do this summer is dress like India, played by Mia Watsikowska. Light cotton dresses and blouses, crisp and buttoned up. The character also revived my love of the dark hair I've been sporting. I've been getting a bit down because I've been missing my natural color which is still gonna take a while to grow out. While watching the lovely India go about with her darling dark hair parted down the middle, it made me excited to have dark locks.

Have any of you seen Stoker? Did you like it/dislike it?

 Em

  1. Oh my! I wanted to watch this so bad! The minute I saw the trailer I just fell in love! Mia looks good as a brunette and there is a dark, charming allure in her that you can tell even before watching the film! I tried to download it but wasn't possible yet... Collars and saddles shoes, India Stoker's style sounds promising :)
I'm really into that "Lolita meets Wednesday Addams" type of girl. I bet I'm gonna love this movie!xx

  2. I was on the fence about seeing this. I've read reviews that say the plot isn't great, but everyone seems to agree it *looks* great. Based on the trailer and your review, I think I'm going to have to see it!

  3. I don't go in for slasher/blood and gore kinds of horror films (unless they're cool, campy vintage ones that are more silly than scary), but I can usually muster up the courage for a good psychological thriller like this - especially now that I know such wonderful fashions are involved.

  8. This film looks intriguing. I love the costuming. And is that ALice from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, the Aussie actress? I'm not generally able to hack a lot of scary movies, but I think I just might for the sake of all things vintage in this case :D

    1. Yes, it's the same actress, though I actually never saw Alive in Wonderland. She's been in loads of things recently. She's super great in Stoker!

  9. The shot of the box with the one saddle shoe and the one spike heel alligator pump alone makes me want to see this movie! Oh, and the CLOTHES. So simple but CHIC!
