The 4th

So for the 4th of July my family invited us to go on a little mini vacation to the Biltmore in NC. If you're not from the USA or have never heard of it, it's completely awesome. Maybe not for people from Europe because I imagine you have loads of old mansions/homes like it just hanging around (or at least that's what I imagine). Basically it's the largest privately owned home in America and was built by George Vanderbilt from 1889-1895. They have most of the home refurbished and restored to what it would have looked like originally, which is just wonderful. They have different tours you can take through the house, we did the main one and then the butler's tour, which was so much fun. It felt like we were touring Downton Abbey.

And this is an amazing family video my hubby threw together of the trip. I hope you enjoy it!

  9. So terrifically lovely - both the (endlessly elegant) setting and what you're wearing (hair completely included). The Biltmore is one of the top vintage buildings I'd love to one day see in America (and all the more so after your wonderful post, video and Instagram snaps of it).

  11. Wow! Your family is adorable. You mention them frequently enough that I can tell that you're close -- it's so nice to see you all enjoying your time together. I feel really lucky that I adore my parents and have such a nice time when our little family is together (I'm an only child...so it's a very little family.) You all look beautiful and happy and the video was expertly done!

  13. Wow what stunning photos and building. I can imagine it has lots of stories behind it. Living in the UK I do see quite a lot of historical building like this but its always great to appreciate their beauty even if we've seen it a thousand times.
