Three of My Favorite Things

I'm frequently getting asked what kind of various make up I use, so I thought I'd write a post on some of my favorites and things I use daily.

When it comes to powder/foundation I used to use MAC, but I've been trying to be nicer to my skin (as it's incredibly sensitive and almost anything harsh causes it to break out and go all red) so I've switched to an all natural brand called Gabriel. I use the powder foundation (as it has no toxins or anything bad in it at all) and wet to apply. It goes on very light and since using it I have far fewer break outs and skin issues. I also use their concealer to deal with any blemishes I might be having. I use both in the lightest shades they make.

When it comes to lipsticks I use a plethora of different kinds. A favorite of mine at the moment is MAC's Pro Longwear in True Red. I have a few shades from the Pro Longwear line and adore them all. They last forever with zero bleeding, I usually don't use a lip liner or MAC's Lip Prep and Prime, it's just that good. If there's a fairly recent outfit post and I have red lipstick on there's a good chance it's this one.

NYX eye shadows. Ok, I seriously love their eye shadows. They are incredibly affordable (music to my ears), but they also have fabulous pigment and their matte shades are fabulous. One of my favorites is Birthday Suit, it has a tint of violet in it so it has a brightening effect. I also use one of their brown eye shadows to fill in my brows.

Those are a few things I'm loving at the moment. What about you? Are there any make up bits that you are loving right now?

xo,
 Em

P.S. Is there anything you'd like to see me write about? Make up/Hair tutorials? Any questions that you'd like to ask that I can do a blog post on?

  1. I haven't ever used nyx cosmetics...but have wanted to seek them out. They use it on Rupaul's Drag Race, so it must be good! Also, I recently started using a Pur mineral makeup and have noticed that my breakouts have gone down exponentially. It's so crazy what a difference that switch can make.

    1. I think the new Ulta in 100 oaks carries them (I think it's one of the only places that does actually). They have so many fabulous colors and are so cheap!

  2. MAC red lipsticks are always great! I am a big fan of Almay makeup. I have really sensitive skin, too, and Almay always agrees with my skin.

  3. Could you do a blog post on which screen sirens have inspired your look most over the years and if they had a particular iconic look/ outfit that inspires you specifically!? :)

  4. Actually, just today I bought my first red lipstick from Mac. I had their darker colors but, even being the lipstick-maniac I am, I never had a Russian Red or a Ruby Woo. Well, I bought the last one, and it's just gorgeous! So that would be my first product of choice. The second is the green HD primer from Make Up For Ever. It's almost useless alone. But when you mix it with foundation and apply together, it makes something magical! No pores, no imperfections etc. I'm literally in love :) The third is Coralista blush from Benefit. I use for a few years already, and it's just so soft, neutral and reviving - oh!

Talking about posts – i would LOVE to read about your preferences in different eras. Like, what's your favorite thing about 30s, what you can't understand about 40s etc.

(Wow, that's one hell of a big comment! :O)

  6. Two of my favourite shades of eye shadow (both from drug store brands) have been discontinued over the last year or so, and while I found decent (also drug store) replacements, they're not quite as fab as the ones before, so I think when they run out I may give NYX's offerings a try for the first time. I've heard so many glowingly positive things about them over the years - it's high time I tried them myself to see if I feel the same way, too.
