We had quite the lovely Saturday today. We went to Cheekwood to check out the Wild West exhibit there, and got to catch the Nashville Opera doing some all American selections, which was fantastic. Then we went and saw A Separation with our good friend Caleb who we hadn't seen in a while and then went and ate tasty food. All together a wonderful day.
I'm not sure I've shown you all my favorite pair of trousers! They're from Vivien of Holloway, and I really love them! I'm always especially interested in trying out vintage reproduction trousers and am thinking of trying out Bernie Dexter or Freddie of Pinewood next. Do any of you have a favorite? The things I'm really looking for in a trouser is a nice gap between the waist size and the hip size. Being a lady with a smaller waist but packing some hips I love vintage reproduction trousers that accommodate that. Let me know if you have any favorite brands!

Such an incredibly cute and gorgeous outfit!!! I want a pair of trousers like those - love 'em!
ReplyDeleteThese trousers have such a neat fit! They look great on you!
ReplyDeleteOh those look great! I might have to try them out. I really love my ones from Bernie Dexter, I also like the denim trousers Allure Original Styles on Etsy makes. She does custom work so even if you have a larger waist to hip ratio they still fit beautifully!
ReplyDeleteGreat pants!!!! Sine you mentioned it, I own a lot of Bernie Dexter clothing and it's all very high quality. I'd recommend her jeans :)

Those trousers are lovely! I have heard such great things about Vivien of Holloway! I just bought myself a great pair of trousers from Pinup Girl Clothing, these ones:

and they are incredible for an hour glass figure, very well made too :D
Wonderful! Fits you perfectly! :)
ReplyDeleteNot only good trousers, but great cardy and blouse, too. Tiniest waist ever. You are cute. Pinning this look for future refernce when dressing. x
ReplyDeletei love those trousers, and your whole outfit actually, you look so nice!

Gorgeous outfit. I've been wanting to get some VoH swing trousers but have no idea which colour to go for, so it's nice to see what they look like in the flesh. You've definitely sold them to me!
ReplyDeleteI know on etsy there is a shop called "Danger Garbs" or something like that, that have trousers similar to this and aren't ridiculously priced shipping {only $10 as I recall}. I've been wanting to try it out because they look so good.
ReplyDeleteThen there is Ruggersmarty on etsy. I've bought from her before. {A pair of her 1930s overalls} They were a dream. Making me look awesomely small in the waist. And what lady doesn't want that??? Also there are oodles of room the us hippy gals! :)
I really like the style of vintage ladies trousers, there is something so much neater and satisfying about a little side zip or buttons than a fly front. I am always a little curious though if the contain any stretch or so they have to be an exact fit?
ReplyDeleteThose pants look sooo comfortable! I really need to get some like that too.
ReplyDeleteRebecca:
ReplyDeleteThese happen to have some stretch in them (I can't speak for other vintage reproduction brands) however there is not any real stretch in the waist. These are so wide everywhere else though that as long as you matched the waist size everything should fit.
i have a pair of Freddie of Pinewood trousers which are simular to the ones you have on, i bought a reproduction jacket from there last year and love it! I really really want some of their dungarees...
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit! I've been dying to try out some repro trousers, I'm in the same situation as you - smaller waist and some womanly hips. I love how fashion in the 40s and 50s really embraced that silhouette!
ReplyDeletegreat photos and great blog!!

I have yet to buy any repro trousers on-line, however found a really great pair of Diesel jeans at Buffalo Exchange that have a rather tall rise (the space between crotch and top) that I enjoy wearing. I just come across what I can when I can. I hear Freddie's of Pinewood is really great, but the waist-hip ratio is small, so be aware! And these Vivien's look amazing on you!
ReplyDeletecool denim pants...
ReplyDeleteI love that the shape and size of the buttons on the sweater match the shape and size of the buttons on the trousers. The details! :) Nice looking pants at that. I want to get some stuff from Vivian of Holloway, too!
ReplyDeleteYou are wonderful! Every single detail is perfect! Love your blog:DD
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful outfit and you have the most adorable smile. (:

How did you find the fit on these? Because I just got a pair in the mail (size 10) and they are massive!! I am straight up drowning in these pants! Did you have to hem them or anything? I'm just curious if what occurred to me is normal or not. I also got a pair of the army green and they fit great, same size and all. (I should mention I'm 5 ft 4 in)
