A Good Pair Of Trousers

We had quite the lovely Saturday today. We went to Cheekwood to check out the Wild West exhibit there, and got to catch the Nashville Opera doing some all American selections, which was fantastic. Then we went and saw A Separation with our good friend Caleb who we hadn't seen in a while and then went and ate tasty food. All together a wonderful day.

I'm not sure I've shown you all my favorite pair of trousers! They're from Vivien of Holloway, and I really love them! I'm always especially interested in trying out vintage reproduction trousers and am thinking of trying out Bernie Dexter or Freddie of Pinewood next. Do any of you have a favorite? The things I'm really looking for in a trouser is a nice gap between the waist size and the hip size. Being a lady with a smaller waist but packing some hips I love vintage reproduction trousers that accommodate that. Let me know if you have any favorite brands!

  3. Oh those look great! I might have to try them out. I really love my ones from Bernie Dexter, I also like the denim trousers Allure Original Styles on Etsy makes. She does custom work so even if you have a larger waist to hip ratio they still fit beautifully!

  8. Gorgeous outfit. I've been wanting to get some VoH swing trousers but have no idea which colour to go for, so it's nice to see what they look like in the flesh. You've definitely sold them to me!

  9. I know on etsy there is a shop called "Danger Garbs" or something like that, that have trousers similar to this and aren't ridiculously priced shipping {only $10 as I recall}. I've been wanting to try it out because they look so good.

Then there is Ruggersmarty on etsy. I've bought from her before. {A pair of her 1930s overalls} They were a dream. Making me look awesomely small in the waist. And what lady doesn't want that??? Also there are oodles of room the us hippy gals! :)

  10. I really like the style of vintage ladies trousers, there is something so much neater and satisfying about a little side zip or buttons than a fly front. I am always a little curious though if the contain any stretch or so they have to be an exact fit?

  12. Rebecca:

These happen to have some stretch in them (I can't speak for other vintage reproduction brands) however there is not any real stretch in the waist. These are so wide everywhere else though that as long as you matched the waist size everything should fit.

  14. I love your outfit! I've been dying to try out some repro trousers, I'm in the same situation as you - smaller waist and some womanly hips. I love how fashion in the 40s and 50s really embraced that silhouette!

  16. I have yet to buy any repro trousers on-line, however found a really great pair of Diesel jeans at Buffalo Exchange that have a rather tall rise (the space between crotch and top) that I enjoy wearing. I just come across what I can when I can. I hear Freddie's of Pinewood is really great, but the waist-hip ratio is small, so be aware! And these Vivien's look amazing on you!

  17. I love that the shape and size of the buttons on the sweater match the shape and size of the buttons on the trousers. The details! :) Nice looking pants at that. I want to get some stuff from Vivian of Holloway, too!

  20. How did you find the fit on these? Because I just got a pair in the mail (size 10) and they are massive!! I am straight up drowning in these pants! Did you have to hem them or anything? I'm just curious if what occurred to me is normal or not. I also got a pair of the army green and they fit great, same size and all. (I should mention I'm 5 ft 4 in)
