A New Year

Happy New Year, my dears! I hope you all had a lovely New Years Eve and are getting into this new year of 2013. I'm really excited about this year as it will bring my one year wedding anniversary and hopefully good times and adventures aplenty. I really am not one to make resolutions, but I do like the idea of making some goals for 2013. So, I thought I'd share some of them with you.

1. I want to buy more intentional vintage this year. Really look through my closest and see what I'm lacking and build that up.

2. Our apartment needs to be kept tidier. I really tried for this goal this year, and it was more of a success towards the end of the year, but it makes life so much happier and stress free when your environment is tidy.

3. I want to scrap book more! When Tyler and I were dating I started a scrap book for him of photos of us and wrote down memories and such, but I'm really behind, as I don't think I've even done our engagement nor anything after.  I think it'd be such a special thing to have, especially when we have children.

4. To fit back into all my vintage clothing. I didn't want to give myself a number goal for loosing weight, as I don't want to become obsessed with being a certain number, but I know I will be back to my healthiest me when I can fit back into all my old vintage. Also, I'll have so much more variety in my closet!

5. Put more in savings (for our Europe trip especially). Ty and I have done very well with savings this year, but we really want to make a trip to Europe in the next 2 ish years, and it needs to bulked up.

I think those are all reasonable goals, nothing crazy, but good attainable things I can concentrate on this year.

Have you made any goals or resolutions?

xo,

  1. Amen to all of these! Especially the intentionality in the vintage wardrobe-- I always think "Ugh, why don't I have xyz?" when I'm assembling some outfit, but then I never remember to look for it or search it out particularly. And this does not a complete vintage wardrobe make. Also, I love the buttons and the collar on that dress you're wearing in the pictures. Happy New Years!

    1. I know! I'm so bad about just purchasing something without really thinking about what I need! Happy New Year to you as well! Also, I really want to get together again!

  2. Very reasonable goals indeed! I don't make resolutions either, but I definitely have some loose goals in mind. I want to pay closer attention to vintage I buy/sew/knit based on what I have in my closet and what I want to be wearing (since they aren't always the same, lol). I also want to be less lazy when I work from home, otherwise I sometimes feel I have very few reasons to wear my cutest stuff. :)

A very happy New Year to you and Tyler!

  3. Happy New Years! I love the "intentional vintage" goal as well... I tend to make a lot of impulse buys on pretty things ('50s prom dresses are my weakness!) when it's things like solid-colored separates that I really oughta be buying, haha. Oh, and your dress is the perfect shade of cranberry-- love it!!

    1. I know, I get behind so easily! I remember when I would help my mom with scrap booking, it was so much fun. Yes, we want to make that trip before babies for sure :)

  7. That dress is lovely.
I think my one major goal is to be healthier and try to exercise more.
Though I would not mind dropping a few pounds haha.

Have a good new year. :)

  8. Love your dress! Those sound like great goals to me, especially keeping things tidy. That's something I am going to try as well. I actually really want to decrease the number of random possessions we have too! Less stuff = more tidy :)

  9. That dress is so lovely, the deep crimson compliments your brunette locks so fantastically.

I'm much more of a goal/plan kind of gal myself, too, as I tend to make really big life changes/resolutions as the need arises rather than waiting for a new year to kick into gear. I love that you're into scrapbooking! It's a huge passion of mine, too! I'd be happy to share some of my supply stash with you anytime, if you'd like.

    Here's to an incredible 2013!

  10. I can identify with so many of your goals! It really is somewhat difficult to keep a clean apartment (maybe it's just me, haha), so that is definitely on my list too. My, but you exude class my dear! This deep red dress is perfect on you. I need to try and copy some of your hairstyles! You always look so polished :)

    1. Thank you so much for your sweet words! I know...it is so hard to keep a clean apartment. It's not just you! You would think because they are smaller than a house it would be easier...but it feels harder almost, haha.

  11. I must say, you look lovely in red!
And I agree with your goals. Everything from saving up money to keeping the house clean. It's hard work but it must be done! :)

  13. What a beautiful dress! And what a good list of goals. I think the clean apartment, intentional shopping, and health goals are on my list as well! I also want to wear more hats in the new year (I suppose that means I also have to curl my hair), practice piano every day (why yes, I am one of those singers. sigh.), and get a real job. That last one is the hardest and most important!
All the best to you in the new year!

    1. Oh I know! I need to practice piano so much more this year! And find a new voice teacher now that I've graduated...that's a big one. Good luck with your piano playing!

  14. I've never made New Year's resolutions; they always make me feel so stressed (and grad school is the source of more than enough of that)! But I think your goals sound super attainable.

I also wanted to mention that I've been curling my hair using sponge curlers based on one of your video tutorials. The curls have been coming out great, and I thought your tutorial was really helpful and adorable. (My sister and I also love the perfect 40's pinup faces you make in the mirror! Too cute!)

  18. Happy New Year darling! All of your goals sound great and perfectly reasonable, I wish you all the best in achieving them and getting everything you want out of 2013! One of my goals for this year is to spend less and stop buying clothes for a few months so that I can save for my trip to Russia in June.

I'm looking forward to all of your new outfits that you plan on building up your wardrobe with this year, and of course your beautiful hair styles :)
