Over the past few weeks our local theater The Belcourt has been doing a showing of 24 of Hitchcock's movies. Both myself and Tyler freaked out when we heard and when all is said and done I think we'll have been able to make it to about 10 shows. There's nothing like seeing an old movie you love up on the big screen. One of the days, I believe it was the day we went and saw Rope, I decided to take one of my Christmas presents out for a spin.
When I originally glanced at this suit I thought it 40's esque, but it was probably made around the early 70's, and belting it gives it a slight 50's vibe as well (it's a bit too big). I'm still on the hunt for that perfect 40's suit. It's so elusive.

What is one of your favorite Hitchcock movies? We're going to see Notorious this afternoon!

Stunning 40s dress, and flari.
ReplyDeleteWonderful to watch old movies in the big screan.

NOTORIOUS IS MY FAVOURITE EVER! You're in for such a treat :D
ReplyDeleteI love it! Amazing style, great dress.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous outfit and photos! I aspire to look as poised as you in outfit photos. So far I'm still just an awkward mouse.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I've always been a bit too chicken to watch a Hitchcock film, but I'm super excited for the film about him coming out!
Thank you so much! You're so sweet. It took me a long time to get comfortable in front of the camera, it just takes loads of practice! Oh yes, the film about him is super fun! I bet you'll like it.
Deletei haven't seen that many, but i love rear window! and we saw rope at the louisville palace theater last year, it was so good!
ReplyDeleteLovely outfit!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite Hitchcock movies so far are: Rear window, Dial M for murder, Strangers on a train and t\To catch a thief. For tonight I have planned to watch Mr. and Mrs Smith.
Ohh, I love Mr. and Mrs. Smith!! One of my favorites.
DeleteLovely outfit! I particularly love the cars going by in the first photo, it adds such an interesting effect.
ReplyDelete(And I'm just going to sit in the corner and envy your shoes for a while... I've been looking for a pair like that with no luck...)
I just can't get over how gorgeous you are! It's like you're straight out of a vintage photograph. :)
ReplyDeleteI concur!
DeleteI love Hitchcock, Rear Window is my favourite!
ReplyDeleteMaria xxx
You look like the perfect Hitchcock heroine. Favourites have to be Rope, The Trouble With Harry, Marnie, To Catch a Thief, Strangers on a Train Rear Window and The Birds... just most of them really aha xxx
ReplyDeleteOh my, thank you! If I only I was blonde still ;). I know, so many are my favorites as well, it's hard to pick.
DeleteOh...that suit is absolutely divine! I love the belt, which accentuates your tiny waist.
ReplyDeleteNOTORIOUS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES! Oooh, Cary Grant in that movie, brooding his broody little heart out. Psycho, Vertigo, N by NW, and the Man Who Knew Too Much are right below that one on my tops list of Hitchcock. You'll have to tell us your faves when you get to the end of the 10 screenings! Additionally, I like the peplum-y kind of silhouette you get by belting that suit, good work; the color is FABulous.
ReplyDeleteI knowww! Tyler had never seen it before and he loved it. Cary Grant makes me swoon so much...oh lucky Ingrid Bergman :) Yes, I will have to list of my favs when all this is done.
DeleteGreat suit! Your waist is teensy!
ReplyDeleteAhhhhhh so jealous of this! Hitchcock is my favourite!
ReplyDeleteRear Window is probably my favourite of his, but I also love The Man Who Knew Too Much.
Are you excited about the upcoming movie about him? I think Scarlett Johansson is perfect casting to play Janet Leigh.
Look faaaabulous as always dear :) x
I know, I was so thrilled to learn they were playing so many of his films, it's wonderful to get to see them on the big screen. Oh yes, the movie has already come and gone here, and it was quite good! I thought Anthony Hopkins was the perfect person to play Hitchcock, and I loved seeing the portrayal of his relationship with his wife. I bet you'll enjoy it when it comes your way.
DeleteRear Window, Marnie and Vertigo are my favourites of the Hitckcock movies I've seen so far. But really, I haven't seen anyone I haven't liked yet either! I love watching old movies on big screen and luckily there's a kind of club here in Stockholm (part of the swedish film institute)that shows a couple of movies a week on real cinemas. Next up is "Grease" in 70mm-film (it's been a while since I last saw it...haha) and "Intermezzo" from 1936; the swedish original starring Ingrid Bergman that got re-made in Hollywood 1939 (but still with Ingrid as the leading lady). I'm looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteYou know I watched Hitchcock yesterday and couldn't stop thinking how Jessica Biel reminds me a little of you!
ReplyDeleteThese photos are so gorgeous, your hair and outfit reminds me a little of Kim Novak's character in Vertigo, which is my favourite Hitchcock film :)
Love that suit. I'm really sad I haven't gotten over to the belcourt to see any of these yet . I've only seen a handful but I love the look of a Hitchcock film. You nailed it
ReplyDeleteRear Window, Dial M for Murder and To Catch A Thief! Yes I love Grace Kelly. I love all Hitchcock films though, love The Birds and Psycho.
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing!
I hope you have a blast with you hubby! I just rewatched "Rebecca" the other night-love Hitch!! xox
ReplyDeleteI love Rope, but I think my favorite is Rear Window. I finally spotted Hitch's cameo about the 15th time I saw it. I don't like Notorious or Vertigo.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Smashingly lovely suit! I agree with you about the 40s vibe, but think it could be taken in a 50s direction for sure, too. It's incredibly sweet that you received this as a Christmas present - I bet every vintage loving gal wishes she could get a find a suit like that waiting for her under the tree (I know I certainly do! :) ). You look wonderfully pretty, and I just have to say how much I like that you belted the suit over the jacket.
ReplyDelete♥ Jessica
Wow, that sounds amazing! The cinemas near me never show any old movies. I love this suit on you, the colour is gorgeous xx
ReplyDeleteLucy Loves To Blog
You look gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAh the color is so lovely, it looks very 40's!
ReplyDeleteI'm on the hunt for a 40s suit too. And... you've received an award- newfangledvintage.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThat gorgeous suit will haunt me. Soooo pretty!
ReplyDeleteI've given you a blogging award at my site. Check it out if you can. :)
Oh, so lovely!
ReplyDeleteI wish our movie theaters here would play classic films too. My Hitchcock favorite is The Lady Vanishes ^_^
awesome suit. so lovely!
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely! :)
ReplyDeleteOh you look wonderful as ever. And I am hoping whoever runs your local cinema moves to my town so they can run ours, because this Hitchcock marathon sounds brilliant! I saw 'Hitchcock' with my family and loved every second, although I have to say I'm yet to see Psycho, despite desperately wanting to. I think my favourite is "The Birds" as the build-up is incredible and it's surreal just how terrified you are of birds by the end. Although North by Northwest is a close second.

I've been looking for a cute 40s suit too! But yes, impossible to find...this one looks almost legit 50s though, which is absolutely gorgeous! Esp in that pretty colour, beautiful against your dark hair.
