I've been a bit out of blog land lately. Things have busied up here in the Litton household. I've started back up working (I had a glorious two week break from school) two summer camps and teaching private piano and voice lessons. I feel AMAZING getting to teach music. It's seriously wonderful. I also got an after school position (that will start this fall) at a local private school to teach voice lessons; I'm super pumped!
Tyler is out of town again (Boooo) but I'm getting to spend time with lots of lovely ladies so there's a bit of a silver lining.
I thought I'd show you a peek of what's been going on here. When things get a little busy I still stick with my instagram so you can follow me there at emmyrenee.
Something very good and very sad happened recently. My grandparents sold their home they had lived in for 46 years. Since my parents moved around a lot (in the Kentucky and Tennessee areas) this was the last consistent place of childhood for me, I even put my feet in the cement there when I was about 2. It's good because my grandparents are living in Nashville so they're wonderfully close (this home was in Kentucky) but it's sad to loose the place. Thankfully I have several things in my apartment to remember the old house by. These two pieces of art have been hanging there since my grandparents moved in in the 60's and they now proudly adorn my dinning room walls.
Here are some outfits I've worn recently. I've just discovered a wonderful antique mall mere minutes from where I live and have been frequenting it more than I should. I've bought some clothes that need some love and mending, and maybe won't be as good as new but I'll still wear them. I also bought an amazing 50's gym onesie there.
I can also fit back into this glorious play suit Quincy made! I'm proud to say I can fit back into all my old vintage and am still pursuing a healthy lifestyle.
What's been going on with you recently?
xo,
Em
Emma, you look amazing! Your figure is WOW! Your an inspiration :)
ReplyDeleteGreat news about your new job and music teaching.
I love the playsuit and how you've styled your hair :)
xox
These photos are wonderful, you're okay with the fringe-roll.
ReplyDeleteI understand perfectly what you feel, unfortunately, I have lost my parents early, and already I was living away from home, but for a variety of events, me and my sisters, we had to sell the house where we grew up, and this with very much pain.
I then found out that the new buyers, because of new laws seismic, they had to tear down the whole house!!
What a strange fate, but fortunately, I managed to keep so many furniture and furnishings, between the years 20 and 60.
p.s.
i love the blu-purple dress.

Oh my goodness, everything looks so adorably wonderful!(And your hair is positively amazing!!!)Which antique mall is it,may I ask?I live right outside Nashville and would love to check it out!
ReplyDelete-dani
It's called Tennessee Antique Mall and it's on Wedgewood. It's really wonderful! And if you go there there's another antique store in the area that's really great called Gaslamp Antiques. Both are wonderful.
DeleteOooh thank you!Oddly,I actually almost stopped by the TN Antique mall the other day,but they were closed.I'll definitely be making an earlier trip there & to Gaslamp Antiques soon!
DeleteSorry to hear about your grandparents home. I moved around so much as a girl too, that I dread the thought of my nana selling her home. It is my one constant in life. I built my first treehouse there, got in trouble for swearing by the nosey neighbour who overheard me and came rushing over to tell my nana what a "bad girl" I was, camped out in the backyard with my uncle, climbed the mulberry tree and gorged myself on mulberrys and helped my dad put up new fencing and lay the concrete (and also put my name sneakily in where my Nana has yet to find it).
ReplyDeleteAt least you have your treasured memories and some keepsakes - plus your grandparents are closer now - that's awesome.
Also you look fabulous!
Oh my gosh you look beautiful! I'm obsessed with your outfits! And your hair! If only I had the talent...and patience...to be able to do that! haha :)

ReplyDeleteThat onesie! Wonderful! My Internet has been dodgy on my travels but it's so nice to see you doing well and rocking such awesome looks! X
ReplyDeleteYou're so good at finding silver linings! How lovely your grandparents will be near, I wish my grandma would move closer. Do you wear spanx or anything to fit into those vintage garments? Your waist looks itty bitty!!
ReplyDeleteNope I do not. If there is something I have to wear a waist cincher with I list it. Thankfully at the moment there is nothing in my wardrobe I have to do that with. Thanks so much for the compliment!
DeleteHi sweet Emma, thank you for sharing some of the recent going ons in your world with us. I completely understand what you mean about the sadness that came with your grandparents selling their home. My paternal grandparents lived in the same house from the early 1960s through to the early 2000s. Much like you said, it was a consistently stable location for me no matter where my family moved throughout my childhood. I loved that house so much. It was a big, beautiful, across the street from a patch of woods (that we went on endless nature walks in), had a good sized backyard, and smelled pleasantly of cigarette smoke, my grandma's perfume, yummy cooking, fresh flowers, and time. If I had the money and heard that it was on the market again, I would buy (and move into) it in the quickest of heartbeats. It will always be home to me.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a gorgeous June and summer ahead,
♥ Jessica
It's so hard saying goodbye to an old family home, but I like you're optimism. You're SO LUCKY you still have your grandparents, though.
ReplyDeleteThat cute pair of blue coveralls makes me think of Rosie the Riveter going to the beach. I love it! Please tell us how you got back into your tiny vintage pieces? You look incredible, and you deserve some major applause. *clap clap* :)
You look lovely here, I love that last outfit too you gorgeous lady!

ReplyDeleteThe second picture from the bottom just makes me stunned. You are so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm always jealous of people rocking bumper bangs, I can't even wear a big front victory roll because of my face shape. So pretty!
Wow, that is one amazing fringe! Love your fashion sense, I'm now following you :)
