I'm getting my hair cut in September and I'm not quite sure what style I'm gonna go for. Here are a few lovely cuts that I've been pondering.
I apologize I could not find original sources for the other photos.
I have had many hair cuts/colors over the years (from a platinum blond pixie to long black locks) and it's never made me nervous, after all it's just hair, right? However, this time I'm feeling a little nervous while trying to choose a style...maybe I've had one hair cut/color too long.
What was one of your favorite hair cuts or have you been rocking the same cool 'do for years?
xo,
Em
I love Marianne's hair, she always looks darling. I would say go for that one!

All I would have to say, is look for a shorter hairstyle you like on a face-shape similar to your own. The hairstyle won't look like you wanted it to on you, if your example person with the haircut you like has a different face shape than you.
ReplyDeleteHope this helps you in your decision. :)

I love and all all variations of the bob + bangs, especially Louise Brooks' iconic 'do: http://anhourafteryesterday.blogspot.com/2011/05/louise-brooks.html
ReplyDeleteAll of the above hairstyles are close enough to each other that you could morph from one to the next with simple tweaks like bang trims, roller sets, flat-ironing, etc. The more important question may be *what color*??
I love number 3! There is something so amelie about it and I think you'd look so chic with it!
ReplyDeleteI just got a chin length bob with long layers and it's great! The back is a tiny bit short for pin curls but in a month it will be perfect! I have a similar attitude towards hair (in that it is just hair and will grow back eventually!) though I've never done anything too drastic with the color. One of my favorite cuts was a pixie that I got last fall. I knew it wouldn't be a long term style for me but I loved it while I had it and I'm so happy that I did it!
ReplyDeleteMariaane's hair is a dream, it always looks so amazing. I'd love to see some pictures of your different hairstyles over the years, especially the blond pixie!
ReplyDeleteI am desperate for a change but I can't quite work out what I want... torn between quite a few of the styles pictured above actually. Either 1920's bob or a 1950's liz taylor look... hmmm...
I'm so used to seeing you with curls, I can't imagine you with straight hair, but I think you'd look great with any of these looks x
I love all of these, I am always jealous of how well you can pull off shorter hair!

The last one!! I did a blunt bob and regret it a bit due to the maintenance and how long it's taking my bangs to grow back. It was also a bit severe on me. Anyway, can't wait to see what you choose!!
ReplyDeleteThe second and Liz's classic cuts are my favourite at the moment. Goodness, I'm feeling shorter hair big time, too, and can't wait to see which one you go in for. No matter what cut you pick, you'll look incredible, dear gal!

I think you'd look lovely with Marianne's cut! You have such gorgeous hair <3 if you don't mind me asking, I remember you mentioning in a previous post that you actually have naturally curly hair, but after using heat tools on it, it eventually lost its curl. I have naturally curly hair too and am only beginning to use heat tools on it to achieve pin curls. I was just wondering how you manage to still keep your hair looking so healthy and undamaged?? Hope you don't mind me asking! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, that's so sweet! well, actually I have naturally curly hair that was damaged by over bleaching it. It just killed the hair which sadly killed my curl. It's finally coming back though and is looking very healthy. I think the heat tools would be fine to use as long as you're using some kind of thermal spray to protect your hair. Also, traditional pin curls didn't use any heat, so try giving your hair a break from time to time with a wet set.
Deletesorry wanted to add that I usually use no heat on my hair which is why it has bounced back so quickly. I try to only do wet sets.
DeleteThank you so much for your most helpful reply Emma, I really appreciate it! I'm definitely going to take your advice and try wet sets every now and then as well :) thanks again! Also just thought you should know I absolutely love your blog and gain so much inspiration from you, you're a true beauty! Good luck with whichever hairstyle you choose, you'd look gorgeous with any cut! xx
ReplyDeleteYou'd look awesome with the first do! I change my hair all the time, I've even shaved my head! At the moment I'm working on getting it to be mermaid length and I've got a long way to go.
