The Things a Girl Will Do for a Mink Coat

I had a fantastic Christmas this year. Surrounded by lots of family and sooo much good food. Two crucial elements for a good Christmas. I also got completely spoiled in the gift department, as I'm sure you can guess by the title of this blog. My big gift from Ty was a completely breathtaking 40's mink coat. And without further ado, here it is:

I'm pretty much in love with the coat. It's in fabulous condition and it's not often I find coats that fit exactly, they are usually much too large. So, good job Ty. You can also reaaaally see my natural hair color, it almost looks gray, but I swear it's just a dirty blond/light brown. Or, maybe it's gone gray while under several years of dye, who knows.

I also got a new bangle from one of my lovely sisters and darling Bakelite heart earrings from Ty.

I'm still on break currently (yaaaaa) and enjoying all the leisure that brings. Though tomorrow I've told myself I must work on organizing and cleaning (and generally behaving like a responsible adult), we'll see how that pans out.

How was your Christmas?

xo,
 Em

Note: I would like to state that I do not support the modern fur industry, but feel for myself that it is ok to buy and wear vintage furs.

  2. That coat is a DREAM! I keep seeing details in the pictures that make me like it even more-- princess sleeves, that gorgeous color, and it's exactly the right cut and length for you-- it's a vintage Christmas miracle! :D Enjoy in good health, lady!

  3. Beautiful!!!

I'm right there with you on the modern fur industry. My Mom has a silver fox coat from the 80s that she now regrets buying given how it was made, but I don't think I would ever want the coat to leave the family, you know?

  6. What a beautiful coat, how lovely that it fits you! I know how hard it is to find one that does - all so big!
I agree with you in regards to the modern fur industry. I am completely against it.. But I too feel that it is okay to wear and treasure vintage furs. I feel there is a difference in appreciating vintage furs. To me it would seem that if vintage furs were thrown away or destroyed the animals' deaths would be completely in vain after all their suffering. If kept and treasured, at least there is still some aspect of the animal that can be appreciated by someone out there.

  8. I love the shape of the coat and it does fit you perfectly. I feel the same way about vintage furs - I would never buy a new fur, but I think if a fur has been loved and well-cared for by its previous owner, it's better to give it a second life than consign it to landfill.

  10. I just recently stumbled on your blog and glad that I did! What a lovely coat and how awesome that the fit is right! I think my favorite detail in this whole ensemble though are your earrings, quite a sweet but playful touch. :) Have a great New Year!

  12. Good job Tyler! (And those earrings!! Wow, just wow.) The thing that really set this one apart is the shoulders. They don't have the 40s fur football shoulder effect, they are perfect little peaks. What a great present, I'm sure you'll cherish it for years & years to come. Happy New Year pretty lady!
