Jitterbuggin'

So, I got a job teaching music to Pre K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade at a private school here in Nashville, yay! It's three days a week so I get to keep one of my other Pre K jobs, and I'm really happy about that. I'm way beyond thrilled to finally be teaching music most of my days, talk about a  breath of fresh air, it's really incredible. Today was my first day teaching and here's the outfit I wore!

What could be more perfect for a first day of school than this incredible Jitterbuggin' blouse I got for my birthday? This is my first item I've ever had from Jitterbuggin' and I'm seriously in love. I had never bought anything before since it's a bit pricey for me, but I had always wanted to. The quality is really perfect, and the prints for the blouses are just too adorable! I've been wearing this one non stop since I got it. If you follow me on instagram (emmyrenee) you're probably sick of seeing me wear it. The only issue (that's not really even an issue) for me is even though I'm quite short (5'2") I have a long torso so the blouse is a bit short on me. Which is mostly not a problem as I keep it tucked in, but it does untuck pretty easily from some of my trousers. But, that's really a body issue and not the blouses fault. All around it's fabulous and I can't wait to save up for another
 splurge item from Jitterbuggin'.

  1. I absolutely ADORE this outfit! The print on that blouse is so much fun. My dad is a pilot and I've always had a little soft spot for airplane prints. It goes perfectly with that jumper. Congratulations on the new job as well!

  3. First off: Hooraaay for your new job. Between that & getting into the choir, I can't be more thrilled for you, you truly deserve it.

Second: I love this blouse, it's probably my fav thing she has (well... the manzanita swimsuit, swoon.). I hear ya on the price, which is why I don't have a pair of her trousers yet (think I'm going to splurge this fall). Don't get me wrong though - if I were freaking handmaking amazing repros for people, I'd want to be charging more than she does! I think we just get spoiled, seeing prices of things being made abroad (no thx), or being thrifty gals who hunt down deals on vintage. The fabric store my bestie works at has this airplane fabric, I've been thinking of buying some and seeing how making my own goes. There's no way it's going to be as good of quality though *cough*

Hope your first day was as wonderful as can be!

  8. Gorgeous outfit! It's such a cheerful, sweet ensemble and I'm sure the kids loved seeing you in it. I bought my first Jitterbuggin' garment (their pinafore dress in navy blue, which I'd had one my wish list for ages) with some Christmas money from my folks this past winter and have been living in it ever since. I'd love to add one (or more) of their delightfully lovely blouses to my wardrobe some day as well.

  14. Ughhhhh you are too too cute! I always think you look good in anything you wear but I do love how you can easily change from casual to dressed-up! I mean I love your outfit when you went to see Dita but these kinds of casual and cute daily outfits are the reason why I think you are a real vintage-loving girl. Congratulations on the new gig - you must be the prettiest teacher around! And you sing so well I cannot wait to hear how many students are going to be inspired by you!

  25. the skirt/jumper looks so amazing on you. some days ago i tried it on in a shop here in berlin. i have to say, i really struggle with the fabrics bettie page uses. i hated the fabric so much, i left the jumper in the store and ran into the next vintage place. good decision: i found two great original 50s skirts and paid for both almost half the cost of the bp jumper.

but - when i see you in this lovely piece - i really wanna have it. life is hard ;)
    you look awesome.
